SPCA

SPCA

The SPCA Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to preventing cruelty towards animals In addition to protecting and providing shelter to strays and animals in danger, the SPCA deals with proper pet care and animal adoption.

SPCA

The SPCA is responsible for protecting and caring for abandoned animals, preventing cruelty to animals and spreading awareness of animal care. In many rural communities where people do not have access to animal clinics, there is a problem of over-population of pets, stray animals, abuse and disease.

  1. Kia Ora Krystal-Leigh,
I like the charity you chose, SPCA seems to be a very helpful charity as well.

What is your favorite thing that the SPCA is currently doing to help? I wouldn't be able to decide, they do so many good things for pets and animals. They're such a nice charity and we're lucky that they help pets and animals.

It's sad that areas without animal clinics have animals in such bad conditions. I think they should build more and make it more accessable for those without a nearby clinic.

I hope the SPCA will help and fix the problems they are working to fix.

    Have an amazing holiday,
    Tara

  2. Hi Krystal-Leigh,

My name is Cheryl and I am the Education Coordinator at SPCA. I just had a read of your blog post and wanted to let you know what a great job you did!

I especially like the last line - "care for your pets to have a better life." This is a very important message as it's up to us as responsible animal guardians (owners) to keep our animals happy and healthy.

Since you are so passionate about animals and their welfare, you may be interested in exploring SPCA's Kids’ Portal (https://kids.spcaeducation.org.nz/). Here you can read more about SPCA, learn about animal care, download instructions for DIY enrichment toys, watch videos, and test your knowledge with the quizzes. There is even a space for you to share your work and send our SPCA Expert any questions you have about SPCA, animal welfare, and responsible animal guardianship (ownership).

Additionally, a new component of the Kids’ Portal is our Kind Matters newsletter. New issues are published each school term and are filled with animal-related facts, stories, activities, crafts, tips and most exciting of all – a competition! Right now we’re holding a “Caption This Photo” Competition. If you’d like to enter, you can find all of the details in issue 7 (November ’19) here: https://kids.spcaeducation.org.nz/newsletter/

Thank you so much for your support! If you have any animal welfare and SPCA questions, please feel free to email education@spca.nz and we would be happy to answer them for you!

    Have a great day!

    Kind regards,
    Cheryl
